It’s almost New Years and I for one am ready to take on 2019! This year has been a great year for me, I paid off half of my outstanding bad debt (over 30K – check out this article to find out how, I started Thrifty & Crafty to share my debt free journey and my love for crafts with like minded people all over the world and the best is yet to come!

So with that said I wanted to share these very easy DIY Confetti Poppers to celebrate the new year! Nothing screams Happy New Year like a confetti celebration!

Also if you have kids this is a great craft for them to help with!

Diy Confetti Poppers

Supplies

  • Paper towel/ toilet paper rolls
  • Wrapping paper/ decorative stock paper/ Washi Tape
  • Double stick tape
  • Scotch tape
  • Confetti
  • Balloons
  • Scissors

The toilet paper rolls are the perfect size for this project. But if you are using paper towel rolls cut them down to size, similar to a toilet paper roll.

Tie a knot in your balloon and cut half of the top off, like the picture below.

Add some double stick tape to the edge of your paper roll and slip the balloon over the tape.

The double stick tape helps hold the balloon in place so you can decorate.

To decorate you can use wrapping paper, card stock or even washi tape to add your own personal design!

Start by measuring your wrapping paper or paper of choice and tape into place using scotch tape, like shown below.

DIY Confetti Popper

If you have excess paper, cut a few slits and using the scotch tape, tape each section on to the inside of the paper roll.

Once you have your popper fully decorated go ahead and add confetti to the inside. A little confetti goes a long way!

Tip: You can skip the next steps if you are ready to pop your confetti poppers, however if you will not be using them for a while. I recommend adding a small tissue paper cover to hold the confetti in place.

Cut a square large enough to cover the paper roll opening and use double stick tape to secure into place.

That’s it, when you are ready to use tear off the tissue paper, point straight up and pop the bottom of the balloon to have the confetti fly out!

I hope you give this easy DIY a try and ring in the New Year with a BANG! Also don’t forget to share this fun DIY with anyone you think would enjoy it!
